On Tuesday after memorial day weekend I picked up on more terms and more understanding of alignment. I also had an opportunity to work on some of Colts Solenoids on his big winch. We didn't do much on it except take it apart and try to diagnose why it smokes and doesn't work.

Alignment may 23 &24
On Wednesday and Thursday I completed 7 alignments with both the lasers and the string and tape measures. I still truly like the string and tape measures. It is more fool proof if you know what your doing. Really cool to also see how much a small shim also effects the alignment.

On Tuesday, we got to go to berthusen park. I got to see some really old styles of engines and how designs have changed over the years. Really another mind blowing day. So cool to have a chance to experience all of this.

On Monday we went to the kenworth factory. It was a long drive down there, but was it amazing. I saw how they make 16 trucks a day and how to do it efficiently. Absolutely mind blowing. Never seen anything like it.

Time to test those electrical skills!

Today I opened my broken alternator. Last night my little battery light in my truck turned on and on my onboard ammeter I had no charging voltage. Turns out after taking it apart that one of the springs in one of the pictures, well wasn't a spring anymore. What had happened is that the brush material had wore away on one of the connections. This meant that the alternator wasn't getting the exciter signal to turn on. I fixed this by using an old spring and taking an old starters brush material and cutting it to fit and it worked! I also took apart my starter that finally gave up. It also just needs a new set of brushes I believe.
